• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

for newbies only (under 200 posts) what model LP and amp do you play the most and why

2008 Les Paul Traditional Plus through a Marshall JMD501. They seem made for each other.

I'm a noob, so this seems like a good place for my first post.

Lately I've been playing my black 2008 LP custom classic. Pretty much exclusively actually. Why? I've noticed a good amount of wear where my arm touches the top at the edge. So playing it non stop in hopes to speed up the process and relic this thing the natural way. Also, I love the thing, sounds and plays great. The neck needs adjustment fairly frequently (2 or 3 times a year), but I've gotten decent at keeping it where I want it.

For amps, I've recently got an EVH 5150 III 50 watter and matching 1x12 cab. Its great for home use, its sounds really good at low levels, and I do crank it the odd time. Not currently in a band, for that I have a 50 watt Mesa Stiletto Ace phase 2 with a 1960 cab that I adore.

Cheers!

2008 Les Paul Standard Faded into a Roland Micro Cube or a VHT Special 6 Ultra. My Egnater Mod 50 and Mesa F-30 are hiding in storage.

Hey..this is my first post! :eek:la

Im playing a 2006 R8 with a pair of well matched 58/59 PAF's through an older Matchless HC30 with matching 2x12 cab. I also use a 54 goldtop with an unoriginal Bigsby and a 61 SG "Les paul" when i dont want to stay in tune haha..

1996 LP Classic. Replaced pickups with DiMarzio 36th, sounds good and plays really well! I also rock a 1990 Heritage H535.

2014 LP Studio Deluxe II and Fender Custom 57 Twin-Amp

The most incredible sounding combination I've ever heard. Most of the time it's just the guitar and amp for pure blues/rock tone.

Looks like my first post after long time lurking!:eek:la

Main squeeze for gigs is actually a Martyn Booth Signature, but recently my 2012 R0 has taken over at rehearsals just need courage to take it out properly, I saved the original wiring harness and BBs and dropped in Bareknuckle mules with push-push coil splits, 550k pots with Jensen PIO caps. Need the versatility on the guitar for our pop/funk/indie and rock covers band with minimal foot pedal dancing. Gigging amp is 1967 Marshall JTM50 and 1969 Marshall 4x12 with G12M55 greenbacks (Model 1935A cab). Rehearsals a Marshall 18w trem 2x12 combo. Few other amps to play at home too:)

New guy, hello!
I've a Les Paul Standard (2005) into either a Hughes & Kettner Tubemiester 18 on a 112 cab, or a Fender Blues Jr III Tweed.

2001 R8 Custom Authentic or 1999 R9 40th Anniversary through a Fargen Mini-Plex and a Scumback Blackback 1/12 and DD5 and reverb in the loop. Great for home, recording or small gig use. If I need more power, I've got a Phaez. Both have power scaling. Also have a couple of Marshall 1 watt combos for grab an go.
