Anniversary LP Thread

I'd love to see a thread that pulls together LPs from '52, 72, '82, '92, and good old 2002. If you have still got 'em, you must love 'em. Let us know why?

Here's my 2002 R8 to start things off. I was initially attracted to it by its top and color. But once the honeymoon was over, I kept coming back because with its BB2/BB3 combination and thick neck, the guitar is just fierce. And after a decade of use, the neck 'plays like butter'.

Lying in the weeds.

Here with it's younger cousin.

Re: Anniversary LP Thread

D'Mule, I hate to see a thread go unacknowledged. I'm interested in the 40th anniversary models because I bought a Gibson NOS fretboard from that model off eBay and used it on a build. Ebony fretboard with a really tight grain. Can't really show the guitar for obvious reasons, but like I said, I'm interested in the thread and want to see some others.

'02 R8

Are you sure those are BB pickups? That was the year they transitioned from '57Cs to BBs....could've been either. And from what I've read here...hard to tell 'em apart without removing the covers.

Re: Anniversary LP Thread

BB2/BB3 was my understanding for the Custom Authentics in 2002, but I guess I haven't look at them hard for awhile...

Your R8 looks nice!

Don't know...I wouldn't doubt that. I didn't realize yours was a CA. Guess I missed that.

Mine's a regular....

Re: Anniversary LP Thread

My '02 Standard is in my avatar. I also have a '92 LP bass, if that counts...

Got a bigger pic of both guitars? Why do you keep them? They must be good.
