Here we go again...
Ok guys, I just purchased my 3rd 2003 R7 Today (SN 7318XX). it's a sweet thing with a dark back! anyhow I own two 2003 R9's and a 2003 R0 all with brazilian, (by the way my other two R7's had brazilian too!) anyhow for some reason my new R7's fretboard looks, smells and feels like it's Braz!!! what is the deal? could Gibson be using braz still, but keeping it on the "down low" to avoid problems? Like I said I currently own three models with Braz (confirmed by Gibson) so I think I should somewhat know what I am talking about. Anyone encountered this??
Thanks, Rob |

I feel the same way LPOnly, Rudy's Music in NY had the R 9 675 which is the fisrt guitar after the cut off date but I would bet my twins that this guitar had Brazilian, they couldn't sell it as a RI w/ Br for obvious reasons.
Gibson bought all that Brazilian just to throw it out 6 months after?......I don't think so, maybe for legal or other reasons they decided to say that May 31 was the cut off date but that doesn't mean that they didn't use all that batch "quietly"...don't you think?. |

I feel the same way. Did they just "junk" or burn the remaining brazilian wood?? Doesn't sound right.

Levitz Furniture bought it all
Check the end tables at Levitz. They smell like a rain forest to me.
