Too bad they can't make one in white.

Oh, I think cherry is my favorite too.

I already have 4 cherry SGs though. Although, each one is a different shade of "cherry".

The Corksniffers are right (but not for the reasons they stated)...its not the same as the photo at the top of the thread .
Still an SG Jr though!

Agreed. Just not what floats my boat. I'll save my $ and get old wood. Nothing "corksniffer" about it. I would get one if it the specs were different.

Damn, they couldn't even get the control layout right. Might be passing on this one.

Now that I see it, for $850 I'll pass. I'll take a trib SG P90 for a few more bucks.

I actually bought my lefty tribute for something like $815 delivered.

I just wish that they hadn't bungled up the layout so much and I think the price is too high for what it is.

You can purchase the lefty SG Std from Musician's Friend for $1,200; $250 more gets you a lot more features and a hardshell case. The USA SG Std also looks better IMHO than this new take on the old SG junior. If this new SG junior had been more accurate to the original (controls, horn bevels), I would have been all over it.

Re: New Gibson Lefty SG coming/righty too

If it's a limited run, and has a maple board, it may be a scarce item in years to come if Gibson resume rosewood boards. Perhaps a little bit more so as the control are not positioned as the original '60s model. But that would be for those who are interested in the possible increased value of them in decades to come. Most will simply be interested in playing the hell out of them.

Yeah, the lefty limited runs really increase in cost years down the line. I've seen a lefty faded Flying V go for $1400.

Humour taken, but I spoke more in the sense of who would have thought LP Juniors would have hit the price levels they have reached, when they could hardly be given away when I started gigging in the late '60s. And the price '70s Deluxes go for now. I have a lefty '76 Deluxe all original (only 4 leftys built that year), that would probably go for silly money now (Elliot, you would love it!). Don't wish to veer off-topic, but here it is:

So these limited run SGs could, because of the likely scarceity value in future decades, become quite sought after and valuable.

Re: New Gibson Lefty SG coming/righty too

Nice LP John!

I think these new SG Jrs are too far from the original design to be worth anything down the road. At least not the right handed versions. That being said, if I can get a good deal, I will probably get one.

Re: New Gibson Lefty SG coming/righty too

As john says , with the leftys it WILL happen . Always does .
5 years ago i was buying lefty lp special doublecut fadeds for 550 quid apiece - brand new .they make 800 + on ebay now simply because of the rarity . The lefty market is unique and very different to the righty market .doesnt matter at all that the design of these sg jr's is different to the originals - they will still increase in value once gibson have ceased production.
