That difference in flame makes it look like it's off center. Still nice thought.

Whew, still there. Pretty close to that s/n though, only 13 away.
Mmmmm, Tobacco
Wouldn't want to spread any rumors about '07s being really nice though.

I'd take it regardless of the color on the back! The backs are always the first things to change, either darker or lighter. My R7 back has darkened nicely. My old R9 got lighter in the short time I owned it.

Looks like my R0 (without the reflectrs of course). I got it at Marks a year ago. Mark is a great guy to deal with.

I will probably be getting this R0 from him next week:

Hey, that guitar at Mark's could be my '07 Murphy R9's twin! Same kind of grain pattern on the bass side, and flamey on the treble side.

This particular guitar has been sitting at Mark's for way too long considering what an awesome SOUNDING guitar it is.

Someone really should snap her up.

I fell in love with the fat flame tobacco burst that was around at the same time this one was put up. I almost pulled the trigger, but someone else had the smarts to get to it first. He who waits...

That center seam and lack of bookmatch is as prominent as I've seen, so the pictures do it few favors, IMO. I like a vintage-correct mismatch, but this is pretty dang extreme at several angles.

So I guess it would be better for me to take and use photos that don't represent how the guitar really looks?? Hope you don't run a store

So, I'd be doing myself a disservice by trying to sell my guitar with this pic

as opposed to this one???

I LOVE mismatched tops. Nothing that can bore me more than regular, straight wall to wall flame. I'd rather have a plain top...........maybe...

Post #12 is an R0 I bought from Mark. The post is Mark's picture. In person, the guitar looks exactly like that.

Mark is one of the few dealers who is really good at taking pics which represent what the guitar actually looks like.

Re: Great looking 07 R9 Tobacco Burst!!!!

Don't look at Mark's pictures unless you take some Gas-X. Funny thing is recently I had been in the market for another R0 and I was talking with dealers and looking at sites and my wife never said anything until one night my wife came home and I had left Mark's site up on the computer, and she said, "What are you doing looking at Marks Guitar Loft? I guess you're serious about getting another guitar." She knows when I am looking there, I am serious. She was right, it should be here next week sometime.

Geez, Mark, how did you see this as a complaint about what you do or how you do it?

I'm a customer of yours, and I just revisited this thread to check on who made the comment about the guitar's sound. I figured I'd contact him because if it really did sound very good like he mentioned, I'd consider buying it.

But maybe now I'll just do all that I have the power to do...deal with and buy from people that I think are good kind people. Killer guitar I bought from you in the past. Doesn't change that, you carry great stuff.

And BluesforStevie - those guitars you posted look great IMO. I've got guitars that match worse than that.

All I was doing was trying to suggest why it might have been hanging around for so long. Some people think like me maybe. But maybe not. Oh well. Sometimes on these boards all I can do is say, "Sheesh.'

Sheesh.

Sorry, I don't know who you are here on this forum but I still took your comment in a negative way. And obviously so did the others that commented afterwards. So I don't think it was just me. Your comment about the pictures made it sound to me like I was hurting the chance of selling the guitar by using the pictures I did. And maybe pictures that didn't show the mismatched top as well would sell the guitar better. Maybe we are all reading too much into what you said and overreacted. Sometimes on these boards it's just how something is typed. If your comment wasn't meant as I took it then I apologize.

But on the other hand, a public posted threat to not buy from me again because I'm not a kind person is a bit over the top.

Good or bad, I try to use photos of guitars that represent how the guitars actually look from all angles. Once a customer gets a guitar, they WILL see all angles so why not let them see it before also. In the last 10 years I've had 2 guitars sent back because the customer didn't like the looks. I think that's pretty good out of a few thousand!!

That was me, and feel free to shoot me an e-mail. It's a really good-sounding guitar and I'd be happy to tell you what I think in more detail. So will Mark.

I really have no idea why it's been sitting there except maybe people don't like darkbursts as much? Who knows. I think it's beautiful as well, both in person and in the photos. The non-bookmatched top just makes it look more like a real one.

Hmm, why haven't *I* bought it yet?

I've sure thought about it. Guess I just don't need another R9 just now.

Well, I like darkburst's and I like non matching tops. I've thought long and hard about buying this guitar. I think it looks fantastic and it's at a great price. Had I not bought the '57 Jr from Mark earlier in the week, I'd probably breakdown on this one.... That said, I already have a killer 07 R9 I got from Mark last year, so I'm doing OK.

That Darkburst I bought shown in post #12 was sitting around Mark's for a while. When I got it, several people on the forum had played it while at Mark's and said they liked it and also wondered why it didn't sell. I had my eye on that one for a while and am so glad I got it. It is my #1 now! But, I have another R0 on the way to me from Mark now, who knows where that one will come in my rotation. The one I am getting from him now was not even in his possession when he thought it would be what I was looking for. The day he posted on his site was the day that we started talking business. So, I have had one that sat around for a while and one that was on his site for 1 day before I jumped on it. Doesn't really matter. I think it will be all good.
