It seems that there are people who like les pauls with no pickguard, so lets see them! I'll start:

Mcquain that custom has got to have the best high gloss finish on it that I've seen. I could shave in that guitar.

Wow, there are some gorgeous guitars in this thread. Here is my red custom.....I seem to always post this photo...gotta take some others sometime. I have a black custom with no pickguard as well.

Normally I'm a 'pickguard ON!' guy, but I like my newest one without.

Lizzy - I'm a big fan of Studio Standards (have an '84 TB), and that's an excellent example...but didn't they make 'em only '84-'86...does your serial # jive with '87?

That could be a RARE bird.

PS: 'Looks like that Protector is in great shape too.

Thanks man! Yes it is a '87 Studio Standard. S/n reads 809775xx. Obviously the bridge and PU rings are non-original, but I'll replace them with the correct ones. It's really an awesome guitar

P.s. the protector case is in decent shape. Too bad one lock has broken off. Don't know if I can get a new one somewhere...
