• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

for newbies only (under 200 posts) what model LP and amp do you play the most and why

A long time Fender guy here, I just bought my first Gibson 2 - 3 weeks ago - a 2016 Les Paul 60s Tribute. It's also my first guitar with P90s. I run through a 65 Princeton RI, a 5E3, a Champ and a 10 watt Blackface voiced head. Except for the intonation, it was perfect right out of the box. No relief or action adjustments were needed and the fretwork is top shelf. The P90s are fantastic. Can't believe it's taken me so long to come around to them. Anyway, a first rate player.

Welcome! Congrats on your first Gibson. I actually almost bought a 2016 60's Tribute myself a few weeks ago, but I ended up getting a brand new 2012 Studio, the white one with the checkerboard pick guard in my previous post. It's now my favorite guitar to play. The neck on those 60's Tributes are so perfect.

Out of my six LPs, my favorite to play is actually the 2012 Studio (white with checkerboard pick guard).

I live in a loft so I just run it through a simple Fender Mustang II. Does the trick.

Beautiful collection! I've actually got the same finish 2014 LP Classic Custom with '57s. I play it through a fender deluxe RI. Love that guitar, love that amp too.

I have an all-mahogany faded Studio model and a 2014 LP Melody Maker, my go-to is the Studio, I love the way it sounds. Main practice amp is either a Princeton Reverb RI or a '66 Bassman. If I take the LP out somewhere I generally take the Princeton.

I have a 1980 Custom Silverburst and a 2001 1960 Classic re-issue that I play through a Bogner 101b:

My 2015 LP Special Double Cut sounds amazing thru my Vox AC15C1.

It's those Gibby alnico slug P90's - Fantastic pickups.. !!

Love the AC15, as well..

I have 3 Les Pauls....a 2000 Classic, a 2012 Custom Shop 1955 Hot Mod R5 (Conversion Replica), and a 2015 Memphis ES-Les Paul.

The amps I use are old Blackface/Silverface Fender amps with high headroom. Mostly using 6L6 tubes. I use pedals for all the gain, it works really well for the classic rock and modern country stuff in covers and great for session/recording/sideman stuff.

I use a 1994 Les Paul Classic Plus through a Marshall JVM410H paired with a Marshall 1936 Cab.

Minimal effects, just Boss Delay, Chorus and a Morley Wah.

I've got 4 les paul but my favourite is my 2014 Studio. Why? Because I love the 60's slim taper neck. Amp Backstar HT1r.

Nearly explicitly, I play my 2005 USA Les Paul Classic (honeyburst, Nashville TOM). I was fortunate enough to own a '57 Historic Reissue Black Beauty 3PU for a short amount of time, but had to let her go to cover rent for the upcoming two semesters and to put a minor dent in tuition loans. For what it's worth, I adorned the BB; however, I found it irritating to play. The guitar was simply gorgeous! I had this nagging voice running through my head, constantly whispering that I wasn't worthy of molesting the aesthetics for a few hours of noodling.

The LP Classic was given to me for Christmas during my 8th grade year. Regardless of my infatuation for the BB, the LP Classic is priceless to me for such characteristics. So many say it, but I'll never let that guitar go.

As for amps? Some solid state Laney I snagged from a high school friend for a case. He really must've been dying for a couple dozen Natty lights.

I play a 79 LP thru a bunch of pedals into a homemade 2204 thru an old JCM-800 cab with ROLA G12-65's. Why? Because it feels and sounds good!

I just purchased my first Gibson Les Paul. 2016 Classic. Great guitar. I have a few other guitars as well. I use a Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister amp. It has great tone. All my guitars sound great through it.

2014 Classic (Wine Red) through a Marshall 100 DFX....

Hate the AMP to be honest.

My first LP is a sunburst Epi. Just before I bought my Gibson last month I got it professionally set up, fretts done, CTS pots, Gibson switch and Jack and installed two Alico Pro IIs.... Its is actually amaxing to play.
