Straight in from Japan and right off the plane this is my 5th and final Killer top and there wont be no more. For those of you that missed last four "killer tops" here is your last chance to conquer the "killer" and redeem your soul. Big wavy wide 3D laser point like crazy flames on this one and a dark brown almost black looking fingerboard!
Japan always gets the best guitars Gibson Custom builds and these guitars are truly special and very rare and certainly the one to own. All 12 guitars in this run were instantly sold out. Not only do they mark the humble beginning of the Edwin Wilson/Tom Murphy era at the start of the Gibson Custom Shop in 1994 they also mark the end of a truly great era as Edwin Wilson and Rick Gembar are no longer at Gibson Custom. These guitars represent the very first work of Murphy & Wilson together at Gibson back in 1994 and their very last work together at Gibson in 2017 never to be done again. No detail was spared for this run and it’s the finest and closest authentic reissue ever done to date. True Historic’s are not being built by Gibson in 2017 except for dealer runs or special order only.
The 2017 1959 Les Paul True Historic Murphy painted 1994 Killer Top feature a “hand picked” KILLER top by Edwin Wilson and was painted by Burst Master Tom Murphy and was an exclusive (JSR) Japan Special Run of only 12 guitars built for the top dealers in Japan only and not offered to any other dealers.
