• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Vintage length steel TP studs and heavy zamk TP..(an aluminum TP has NO place on a SG IMHO..vintage ones were hooked to a trem..they sound wimpy IME without some mass)

It's a RIPPER..my other guitars are JEALOUS! The plain enamel/short A5 PAT# clones are serious pickups..everything else is pure AVH LOL.

Not too shabby!! Sounds silly, but I like the look of those nylon saddles, they look closer to bone than regular nylon.

Thanks!

For this one, as it is technically a Reissue,(minus a vibrola of course..thinking MAYBE a Bigsby..I have a CUSTOM MADE plaque..:hmm) I just wanted to spec it out early 60's LPSG style. I'm pretty content with the PLT pickup covers...more PAT# than PAF, but close enough for a non vintage piece. Was thinking Throbak covers..but realistically, these are 90% there.
I had chrome PAT# covers on it for a minute..(had the chrome/nickel "mixed '65" look ) but since I have the LES PAUL TRC, I went with all nickel. (like it matters..it's a 2012.. LOL:##)
The PAT# covers installed in this pic:

Vs the PLT "PAF" covers:

Close! The Brandonwound PAT# pickups are KILLER!! I'm a believer in PE wire in pickups!
The saddles do have that look..tonally, its a minor smoothing..not super drastic.

Got mine in 2012. It's a 2004, plays like a dream and light as a feather and sounds awesome.

Got a question for anyone with a 61' re-issue or any other Gibson with this similar problem.

Somewhere along the way, I noticed my neck pickup seems much louder than the bridge pickup.

I've had it checked out, but no problems were found.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I've realised that because the 57s are closer in DCR, it's a balancing game for sure..those Brandonwound PAT# clones are pretty nicely balanced..but IME SGs in general seem to have that issue somewhat.
