• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

have you seen one of these?

So I decided to buy a Les Paul the other day and I have never seen one like this, does anyone have a clue? Thanks everyone in advance!

based on the photos I see here, I am going to say it is not a Gibson, looks like bronze strings on too. a more closer inspection would be needed and I may be wrong here but the the control cavity would probably help too

It felt Odd in my hands. I inspected it for about 30 minutes before I put a down payment on it. The serial number tells me its a 2005 I believe. Oh and the strings are acoustic strings on it (its from a pawn shop)

Me too! Maybe it's a limited run or a true 1 of a kind, who knows, but we shall see. I just figured I'd turn to the trusty people of Lespaulforum to help me out

Either way, its beautiful or at least it will be even better when I completely make it my own. Oh and the strings are acoustic strings on it (its from a pawn shop)

Call Gibson customer service and give them the serial number.
Then you'll know.
It's really that simple. :ganz

It's a Chibson. The 12th fret character is Chinese hanzi. Loosely translated, it means "sucker".

:hee:spabout:laugh2::rofl

if it is a Chibson, then get your money back ASAP. from what I understand fake gibson of this type cannot be sold, they are considered counterfeit.

I emailed Gibson and they told me to go and open it up and look at the hardware and send them pictures. I am going to go try to get my money back as well. We'll see how this plays out. So much for wanting a Gibson guitar...

You bought that in a gun shop?

Yeah they have a few rare things in there from time to time. They had an 84 start at one point as the owner is musically inclined. This was in his personal collection so it was in his possession.
