• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Nice playing. If I could grow nails I would play that way. I tried acrylic for about a year but they just ate away my nails. Had to give 'em up. I must say that playing melody with rhythm is one of my weak points. My brain won't function that way, yet.

Have you ever tried finger picks as opposed to growing your fingernails? I do however prefer the sound of nails on a string as to fingerpicks. But that might be a viable alternative if you can't grow out your nails.

I did. I felt like my playing effort was tied to the finger picks. Wrestle with 4 different sizes, adjust for the correct angles, etc. I still do finger picking but I need to play with a compressor to get decent equalization.
