• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

In German, and no playing at all, but a look at the insides, and a better view of how they actually look.

It's a Reinhardt! :hee

And it looks as though Bob Reinhardt isn't making them anymore.

US$2k makes them at least $4k NZ which is too much for a combo or head over here unfortunately.........for me anyway:lol

"The Astoria Series is about pure, unfettered, vintage tone – from loud, unbroken clean to sublime saturation"

Isn't that what they say about all their amps.

On a slightly different point, I was passing the Marshall factory last week and dropped in with a 1987x reissue I was having a problem with. They have a service facility where you can bring in your amp and if it can be fixed while you wait, they will do it for you.

Whilst I was waiting I had a look through the vintage amp display area in the main reception foyer area and was able to inspect and view all the old amps from back when they started. There were a couple of amps in display cases which were the 1st and 2nd amp (I think) they produced. Very interesting and everyone was very helpful and pleasent.

A funny thing happened whilst I was there. You know that Marshall always say that "they are the father of loud". Well when the tech guy was testing my amp in the workshop area, this bloke came out of one of the side offices and said, hey mate, can you turn that down, its to loud, I'm on the phone. Well I thought it was funny.

Nice lookers, think I'd stick with a 1974X though. Full marks to Marshall for getting away from the time honored look. Just not sure about the sounds.

Actually, i enjoyed that video-at least they tried to show a bit of everything, tried to be a bit too wylde though.

the re-issue sounded great, and the guy on the left admitted it too, pity he didnt try it through the green one .
I think i'd have to buy the red one, if i had to buy just one, but i have already got too many Marshalls, not enough floorspace.
I went with the Class 5, and already am lucky enough to have a Booteek modified mini class 5 stack, which does most of what the Astoria does, but at lower volume, and i treated myself to another limited model, the Roulette, head only, running through a weber mass into a 4x12, i just wish it had a loop for reverb.
Buy British, thats what i say.
cheers guys
