Hi. Great site. Looking to buy my first LP. Came across this early 70's Deluxe Goldtop. Can someone tell me what these switches are between the volume and tone knobs. Just realized I can't post a pic. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Welcome!

If there are switches near the knobs, they have been added later and are not factory. If that doesn't bug you, that's great! Will make the guitar cheaper as most people want them bone stock. Probably phase switches or perhaps coil splitters.
