• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

In what year did Gibson stop drilling the 9 holes and start chambering the Les Paul Standard? When did they start making the Les Paul Traditional model?

As I recall, the chambered Standard appeared in 2007. The Traditional was launched the following year as a response to requests for the non-chambered Standard.

Around October 2006.
Traditionals came out in 2008. 2008 - 2012 have the nine holes. 2013 - present have no weight relief.

The " 08 Standard " was made from 08 -2012. Chambered but also a 50s Asymmetrical neck.

In late 2012 the " 2012 Standard " was introduced, Modern Weight Relief method used and a 60 Asymmetrical neck. Advance PUP switching. Was the same in 2013 and 14. The 15s has the new features in addition.

Traditional started late 2008. The 1st batch that got to GC shipped with Classic TRCs - GC swapped them out for blanks, then and few had Standard TRCs - I had one and had to really push Gibson for a replacement Tradtiional TRC.

Thanks! So before 2008 it was only the Classic and the Standard and they had the 9 holes?

Customs and Studios are also weight relieved.
Most post 2006 Studios are chambered but there are some with the nine holes.
