Found a 1959 "first rack" 345 a few weeks back from the original owner's daughter. 1963 and two 1964s round out my 3X5 collection. :salude

It's at the shop getting a proper setup along with a varitone removal :couch but I'll make sure to post a few more pics once I get it back.
It has all the early features. Huge neck, short leg PAF and black varitone ring.

Outstanding! Pre '62 345's are in true bypass in the "1" position, so there's no tone suck. The covers are off, so you can flip that magnet so that the middle position is in phase better.

Completely different animals. Completely. The I-35 is a Deluxe. The back and sides are one piece with a solid top (I called it "one piece" it is obviously 2 but NOT plywood). It is also halfway size-wise between the 335 and a 339. Sounds completely different.

I got the '64 ES-345 in Cherry. Doesn't the wood grain in those re-issue cherries make you forget all about flames?
