• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I made one myself of an G-3rd gibson string of a 0.11 set.
Works fine.
A set of pliers and 5 min time is what it took to make it

+2 Thats all it is anyway.

Thanks for the comments.
I have done this as well ( make one from strings) but it never came well...
So I better pay and get the real one than be frustrated with bad quality material and work.:salude

I've made them out of scrap wire in a pinch. I'm sure Stew Mac will sell you one. But the shipping will be $8.50.

If you can access StewMac's monthly tips pages Dan gave a tutorial for making
the retainer. The secret to a sweet fit was bending the "3rd" angle [presuming
that there is 4 total] slightly shy of what your eye tells you to bend it.

IIRC the tutorial came out this year so it should still be a current article on their website.
I hope this helps save you the astronomical shipping charges that are so damn
popular!
