• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Let's see your guitar collection

God, I just *LOVE* that red 3-PU Custom.....!! It's so...Ace!

Yeah it's pretty cool. There's actually a kinda funny story behind it. A friend of mine had a house gig in Anchorage, Alaska (5 weeks up 3 back). At the time we were both buying early 70's LP's, but I was more of the purist '68-'74 only. :ganz

Anyway, I heard there was a '76-'78 wine red LP custom an hour or so outta town, that had been routed for 3 pups and was mid-high market at around 3k... I had no interest, but I told him about it, as I knew he was in the market for a 3 pup custom.

He really wanted to check it out, but was stuck in Anchorage... In the meantime, he's emailing me to look at it for him, but I'm not enthused about spending a morning driving for hours for an over priced '76.

So, finally I give in and and drive out to the store. I walk in, see the guitar on the wall and turn it over to look at the serial number... 6 digit ser #, made in the USA stamp, cherry custom, $1800 price tag... It was one of those hallelujah moments. I love early 70's LP's and this was clearly '73-'74... The sales guy knocked off an extra $50 off and I was outta there...

When my friend came back, I tried in vain to convince him to let me have it, but as a life long Ace & Frampton fan he couldn't give it up. It got away, but ended up in a good home.

Here's another pic of the '73
