EVER! Even deep in the Vintage news ads. I have managed to find and hoard three 1994 Historic R9's and have stashed all in the brown Lifton style cases that finally arrived in 99 with all the original case candy, receipts, personal notes, original Gibson Historic Catalogs, etc. All have one thing in comin. Highly figured flamed ribbon Burst ice tea tops. Nothin too wacky or 3-D though. Over the years these were hand picked out to closely match the deep Tiger ribbons of the best looking originals. I am posting the only shot I have with me at the time. Of all of the three 94''s this one was aquired from Joe Ganzler about 10-years ago when he was the undisputed Historic Monarch of Maple! I'll post other shots upon request. The serial number falls into the range when Tom Murphy was still painting the tops. This 1994 serial number is 9 4177. I am just a big fan of (ALL ORIGINAL) believe me given enough time the pickup covers start to look like old Zippo lighters all on their own, without any fake aging. The interesting thing about this particular 94 is that the top is so consistant and deep that although the pick guard was supplied, it was never drilled out on the top or binding side. Just showed up inside the interior case pocket.
