• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I've have changed knobs dozens of times rhtough the years and never had a problem, but I always use a cloth underneath. If your maple cap is that soft, you have other issues besides changing knobs.

An issue like "a nitrocellulose finish?"

Whatever you do, don't pull *too* hard...

I was trying to change a knob on mine and when I gave it a tug, the knob came off alright...

With the the shaft from the volume pot attached to it.

:wow

Yep. Bummer. But, the pots were old and dirty anyway, so no biggy. Just a word of caution.

any thin cloth will do....I just put it under and around the base of the knobs, until it is all the way around.pull together and then gently up.workd every time.I relaced the knobs on my class 5 w/creme over the gold.
looks nice now.
