• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I sold this guitar 10 years ago, only to realize later it sounded and played better than any modern ES-335 I've owned, which included regular run, Custom Shop, and Historic 335s. I had a chance to get it back, so I could not pass it up!

According to Gibson(copy of e-mail from Gibson included with guitar), this guitar is a 1998 Custom ordered Historic Reissue 1959 ES-335 model with serial # A98xxx, before Gibson issued COAs(which started in 2001). I originally bought it from a jazz guitarist in San Francisco back in 1999.

What made it a Custom order was that it was ordered left-handed and was specified to have a light vintage sunburst instead of the true vintage sunburst. This allows you to see the figured top all around the perimeter of the guitar, which is something I have not seen in other 335s.

Historics didn't have Nashville TOM bridges and Grovers.

Yea, I know, I've had Historics with COAs from the 2000s. But that's exactly what Gibson wrote to me in their description of the guitar, so that's coming straight from the source.
